The Pembrey & Burry Port Amelia Earhart Community Group...
We are a passionate, volunteer-led community group dedicated to celebrating the remarkable legacy of Amelia Earhart, who made history when she arrived in Burry Port on June 18th, 1928—becoming the first woman to cross the Atlantic by air, as part of the crew of the seaplane "Friendship".
This achievement set her on course to become the world-famous aviator, international celebrity, and enduring inspiration she is remembered as today. As we approach the centenary of this momentous event in 2028, we are working together to honour her pioneering spirit through a programme of events, educational projects, and community tributes.
Our aim is to promote heritage, inspire future generations—especially young women—and ensure Burry Port’s place in global aviation history is proudly remembered.Join us as we commemorate this extraordinary milestone and keep Amelia’s legacy alive for generations to come.
